One of the main problems of deep wood processing industry (Pulp & Paper Mills, woodworking plants, plywood mills, etc.) is the waste wood disposal. Due to the fact that the rate of official waste disposal amounts to RUR 5,500 per ton, the plants are tempted to illegally dispose the various wastes and they continue to burn gas instead of making small reconstruction of thermal power unit and generating more revenue, or finding another source of profits from the bark and wood waste utilization.
We want to share our experience and show a new source of profit centers, namely, to consider the benefit of the investment project "Greenhouse facility heated by Wellons boiler". This project will not only improve the local environmental situation, but also will allow rational use of forest resources, create jobs, and provide revenue growth due to the greenhouse vegetable production, with sustainable production and consumption positive dynamics. Opinion polls show that today Russians are disposed to allocate for fresh vegetables and herbs much larger share of their budget than 10-15 years ago. Healthy lifestyle motivated Russians pushed by nutritionists’ recommendations increase the vegetable share of the daily ration. Unfortunately, with Russian cold climate the open field year-round vegetable production is impossible.Moreover, yet in the southern Russia, t
he most favorable for open field vegetables production, the maximum fresh vegetables season is 4‑5 months. In other regions of Russia the fresh vegetables season is limited by 2-3 months. Thus, to supply fresh vegetables for remaining 8-10 months the sheltered ground production is needed. The investigations show that the Russia fresh vegetables per capita consumption is nearly half of food standard recommended by Nutrition Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences. Monthly fresh vegetables consumption (see chart below) shows that during the warm season the vegetables demand is covered by the open field production, and the remaining 8-9 months there is dramatic shortage of fresh vegetables, which can be corrected with year-round greenhouses production. The above brief analysis of the fresh vegetables consumption and poll figures show the market benefits for the local greenhouse production and the profitability of the greenhouse facility investment project. This project allows:
